Park the Car After adding a little funk to Oh See Dee's "Neighborhood Chant," and rockin' out hard for their first single "Wear Eugoin," Monitor Blown is introducing a new sound to their repertoire. Parking Lots, set for a November 17th release, will be the first full-length album to hit the RabStore. "It's a project that we've had on a shelf for almost two years," said the band's keyboardist, nicknamed Keyz. "We recorded and mixed the whole thing in about three weeks, and then kind of forgot about it." |

Many of the album's tracks were featured in Robert Bartolome's short film of the same name, which is what inspired the formal release. "At the time, Parking Lots [the film] was only released on a small scale," said Bartolome, "but the soundtrack always got people's attention. It's great that we can get [Monitor Blown] a little extra exposure with the store." The 16-track album is a widely-diverse collage of ambient styles and sounds, and is appropriately described by Keyz as "Music to park to." Incorporating hints of electronica, classical piano, and a bit of 1920's vinyl jazz, each song paints a very unique picture. Lead singer LB, who does not appear on the album, explained, "It's all Keyz' vision, and he should really get the spotlight. We just tried to stay of of his way!" he laughed. According to the band, a 5.1 Surround Sound DVD-Audio mix is also in the works. Keyz said, "It's something I've always wanted to do. But we're taking it one song at a time, so we'll just have to see how it goes." But for now, Parking Lots will be available on November 17 in the RabStore |
