Correction...
As Workaholics Anonymous reaches its final few weeks of post-production, the finalized cut is prepped for yet another important process: color correction. "Color correction is where we breathe a little life into the project," said Producer Allison Freitas. "We've more or less finalized the pacing of the cuts and the film's soundtrack. This is our chance to control what's actually being seen in each frame." But color correction is not only about enhancing the film's image. Director Robert Bartolome explained, "It's blatantly obvious when two angles don't match. One shot may look slighter darker, or slightly redder, or something like that. When you're cutting between those shots, it can be really awkward and distracting to audiences. So it's crucial that we make the colors match." Wikpedia.com clearly outlines the two sides of the operation. "Primary color correction affects the whole image utilizing control over intensities of red, green, blue, gamma (mid tones), shadows (blacks) and highlights (whites). Secondary correction brings about alterations in luminance, saturation and hue in six colors (red, green, blue, cyan, magenta, yellow)." Whether for creating a more vivid and brilliant image, or masking deviations, color correction is an essential part of any project's post-production.
