The Rab Roster
Part II: Put Your Seatbelt On

July 5, 2010

Last week, the team announced the first director to join the Rab roster, KC Amos. This week brings along a new and very different auteur, who's cinematic style has earned him great acclaim as a commercial director.

A native New Yorker now based in Los Angeles, Alan Farkas has gained over 15 years of diverse industry experience.  Not only does he hold a unique catalogue of cinematic, and often whimsical, commercial spots, but every project seems to have the design and intricacy of a feature film.

According to Alan's professional bio, "He prides himself in creating memorable, high-production-value content; a keen eye for constructing tone and a sense of whimsy; and a sincere reverence for all the practices and professionals that work together to create one single piece of work."

Farkas’ projects often play on dichotomy, including his Shining-inspired “Klimtog,” which captures the dark, haunting images of Stanley Kubrick’s film, then flips them around to create a hilarious and memorable finale. And his latest spot, "Revolution 57" (seen above), takes a similar, dark-humored approach, fueled by a very familiar brand.

But regardless of Farkas' unique vision and style, his professional bio puts it simply: "At age 10, Alan leaned forward from the back seat of his parents’ 1977 perfectly orange Volvo station wagon to submit his life plans. 'I’m going to be a director.' The response came sharply. 'Put your seatbelt on.'"

With his precise attention to detail, and production value second to none, Rab Studios is excited and proud to welcome Alan Farkas to the roster.
