The Rab Roster
Cetre then moved to Los Angeles, where he met and worked for director Darren Grant (Diary of a Mad Black Woman) and learned the business of Hollywood. “I did a lot of coffee runs back in those days," admitted Pegues, "but I learned tons!”
His official bio puts it bluntly: "Feeling challenged by an over-worked producer who told him he'd never be a director, Cetre picked up the camera and started making movies again. And he’d never work for that producer again." Whether he is directing a music video, commercial, or feature film, all of his projects evoke strong themes of truth and reality. “The camera was just something I always had in my hand,” explained Cetre. “My dad taught me to take the photo without [anyone] knowing.” This candid style lead Cetre to edit many documentaries for the Discovery Channel, as well as produce a handful of his own. Working on these documentaries clearly helped focus his real-world vision, which is always a prominent part of his work. Recent projects include music videos for Sunz of Soul and the widely-popular New Alliance. The Rab crew would like to give a warm welcome to Cetre, the third director to join the Rab Roster. Stay tuned for details on the long-awaited Director's page, coming soon. |
