Last week highlighted Colorodo singer/songwriter Joe Uveges, whose quirky theme, "Self-Employment Swing," is leading off the Workaholics Anonymous soundtrack. Next up is a power-pop quintet from Chicago that offers a different vibe for the film.

Led by singer/songwriter Juan Avila, Gooey delivers the energy of artists like Mattew Sweet and The Beatles, then mixes it up with a laid-back sense of nostalgic emotional yearning.

The band's song "Busy Day," from their 2005 self-titled album, is a magical morning overture that keeps its gaze toward life's new adventures, whilst still clutching onto the playful innocence of youth. Lines like "So many things to do, I've got to wash my hair, I've got to tie my shoe" define their will to enjoy life's little things, putting forth the cathartic realization: "I've got no time for you."

The song not only plays a major role in the film, but will also be featured on the soundtrack album. For more music and info about Gooey, visit ilovegooey.com.
